With today’s need for more security and safety in buildings, the traditional lock and
master key system has been replaced with electronic access control systems. These systems allow entrance with a keypad, card reader, fingerprint scan, or other biometric access control.
Electronic access control systems allow for flexibility. Each access credential (key card, fob, pin, or biometric access) is unique and can be programmed for each individual. This means access can be granted or restricted depending on who is holding the access credential.
Access Control Systems have 2 components:
Control Panel and Software. This is essentially the “brain” of the system. This contains the database of both people and credentials. It controls the commands for each door or gate within the community too (time schedules, security levels, and so on).
Entry Devices. This refers to the actual devices used to gain entry to the property. There are 3 basic types available:
Whatever type you choose for your Laguna Hills access control system can produce audit trails. This gives you the capability to keep record of everyone who enters and exits, as well as the exact time. The audit trail becomes a very useful investigation tool should theft or a security breach occur.
